| Lives for gear | MAJOR problems installing Liquid Mix on Mac Pro
This is a real pain in the a$$ so far...Nothing like getting something home and it not working. Here's what I sent the support team. Anyone have any ideas? I have a new Mac Pro and just installed the software that came with the unit today. At that time, I could at least pull up the LiquidMix Manager, but the software would crash when trying to scan the mono and stereo channels in the Logic AU Manager. I then went to your site and downloaded the Mac Intel 1.2.1 update. I ran the installer and get this error message: The application LiquidMix quit unexpectedly. Mac OSX and other applications are not affected. Click reopen to open the application again. Click report to see more details or send a report to Apple. Meanwhile, the software continued to download and finished the install. When I try to launch the LiquidMix icon, I get this error: A problem occurred initializing memory. Please make sure this is the only LiquidMix Manager running at the moment. If the problem persists, please quit all other applications, reset the Hardware and try again. My hardware scrolls though the Sintefex Audio screens saying "Run LiquidMix Software" and Connect Firewire port to computer". |

Have you tried repairing permissions after the latest Intel compatible install? If not, try that along with logging out of your user account, then back in again. Then re-plug in the LM and try launching the software utility one more time.

Thanks for the suggestion - that was a good idea...unfortunately, it didn't work. This has been a really, really frustrating experience. It's just awesome to sit here and stare at this thing for the last three days waiting on tech support to never call. Tech support has been the absolute pits. I have talked to three humans, and two of them directed me to a third that was catching a plane home from a trade show. You're telling me there's only one person on the planet that can solve my software problem? This thing is going back if it can't be resolved soon. Very soon.

| Liquid Mix Identical Problem - my lucky solution...maybe works for you....
Hi Johnkenn. Dunno if this "solution" has come too late but I had the very same problem you were talking about and just sent a pissed off letter to Focusrite. Mine came about as a result of experimenting with sample rates. I'm using a MacBook Pro so I'm running under Intel. Anyway - basically - the same thing as you, just loading up the Liquid Mix software immediately caused it to crash, then I "reopen" and it comes up with the error initializing memory, etc and I can't do anything. So then for some dumb reason, I unplug the LM and then in again so it's ready to be initialized - then I GET INFO for the LiquidMix software and click on "Open using Rosetta". Then it worked - god knows how or why, so I was able to then reset it back to 44.1k from 96k and back to 32 instances, etc and after that - I quit the LM software and unplug the LiquidMix. Then under the GET INFO for LM - I turn off the Open using Rosetta". Plug the LM back in so it's ready to be booted up again and fire up the LM software and with baited breath - it works. Somehow - it's fixed again. I'm not sure if this will help - but our symptoms were the same - hopefully the solution will be too. Good luck! ps - as an aside for anyone reading - I wish I checked out the Waves SSL plugins before I bought the Liquid Mix. I won't say that the SSL's are identical to the real thing - if they were - for £500 - it would be something ridiculous - however, they are pretty damn useful and good. Very quick and easy to work with - specially if you're familiar with the desks - and in my opinion - for £500 - a better, faster, easier way to add that professional sheen and character to my sounds than the Liquid Mix - even taking into account LiquidMixes increased "versatility". And having spent the 7 day demo comparing it with Liquid Mix - I have to be honest, if I could do it again - I'd have chosen the SSL first with LiquidMix as a bonus luxury item when I coulda afforded it - as it stands - I'm gonna have to save up now for the Waves. The hardware's great, the choices are good - but I just got to where I wanted to sonically MUCH quicker with the SSL's. Oh - and in case anyone's curious - the CPU load is surprisingly REALLY low...I was opening instances left right and centre without much trouble. I urge anyone to bear with the insane demo authorisation process and check 'em out. |
