mastering engineers in southern california

I own a recording studio in San Diego,Ca and do my own mastering on my smaller projects.I say i do mastering but dont consider myself a Mastering Engineer.I have some bigger projects wrapping up soon that could use the ears of a Real Mastering Engineer(not just some guy with a computer with his waves plug ins).
Can anybody recomend an Masterer in the Southern California area...San Diego-LA. Not just someone who gets a disc ready for duplication ,but someone who will take the record to the next level .We are looking for someone who is fairly reasonable since we are an indepent project studio,we dont have the budjet for Bob Ludwig. Most the music coming out of our studio is adult contempoary Altenative Rock (Ala ...Tori Amos,Coldplay,Jonatha Brooke etc....)
Any Refferals are greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks for your time.

mastering engineer in la

Hi,

Try Mitch Zelesny, he is good, has worked with major acts.
Great mixer too, but prefers mastering. (818) 247-9592

Mitch, Andy Wallace and I used to work in a studio called EARS in the mid 80s.

Cheers,

Bob

There are lots of ME's around Southern Calif. John Vestman in Orange County, Jay Frigoletto and Dave Colins (Mastersuite) in Hollywood, Stephen Marsh (Threshold Sound and Vision) in Santa Monica... Of course at the really high-end (high priced) end of things you have Bernie Grundman, Stephen Marcussen, etc...

They all have different sounds, some I like more than others. However, you should listen to examples of their work and talk with them to decide what will work for your project...

Try Bernie Becker in Burbank, he has dog ears, great gear and is very reasonable and flexible based on your situation. Tell him Wade sent you and that will probably help some too.
