Modding a Behringer ADA8000. HOW?

i read somewhere that there's a modification available for the ada8000 to make it sound better. Does anyone have more specifics on this? I am capable of soldering stuff.......

Thanks in advance

hello,

i heard from a friend that it's possible to mod the mic pre into something usable by replacing the elco's with "Blackgate" elco's.
You could also clock it using a better clock to minimize jitter error and tighten up it's stereo image.

greets,

thomas

hey Bastiaan,

over on the DUC I know you were waiting for another unit, how has this one worked out for you as to comparing it too your 001 pre's and converters (I guess youe topic should answer that in itself),,,but how do you feel it compares?

Bobalou,

I used it on a recent recording, and i think it sounds just like the digi001's pre's. I have some strange brittle high's that i cant seem to ged rid of. The behringer is a very quiet unit, but the highs are no good....

Just ordered a Mindprint ANDI/PRO and a matched pair of Oktava's MK-012's to see if that makes a difference....wich i am pretty sure it does.

To hear those high's i mean, goto http://bastiaan.ods.org/music, and listen to the Jasper3.mp3 song.

aloha bastiaan,

overhead: 2 maal AKG C430
Room: Behringer B2
basgitaar: Direct in mijn Focusrite Tonefactory
gitaar: SM57 closemic
zang: Rode NTK

Not really. Maybe swapping the ElCo's could work, but no-one knew for sure. And modding the box and forfitting warrenty for something i am not entirely sure of....well.....i am not going to do that.

Did the Mindprint ANDI/PRO and the matched pair of Oktava's MK-012's make a difference in how you perceive the Behringer?

Not yet. I can imagine that the Behringer will sound better when clocked to the Andipro, but other then that i havent really tested it yet. I have tested the andipro with the oktava's, and they sound sweet together indeed, but no comparance yet...

Sure are a lot of people raving about how great these things sound, this guys not complaing about the converters or the pre's, he claims both were used exclusively on this, Is anybody else using these or have anything to say about them besides the usual screw Berringer diatribe? The cymbal clarity is surprising.http://www.eyesound.it/dwn/afromania.wma

A buddy of mine might be able to do a mod on that unit. Maybe drop him a line:
