Thread Starter | Low register male voice/Mophine vocal chain Any info on how Mark Sandman`s voice (lead singer of Morphine) was recorded? Prefered gear for low register male voices? thanks |

| Good question. I'm listening to them right now. Lot of 'verb on the vocal, but it works. Would love to know what mic and pre he used for Cure For Pain. Jasper |

| 'Good' was recorded at Q Division in Boston as I understand it. Q DIVISION STUDIOS I'm guessing they gave him something standard like a u47, and then carefully placed him in the A room. The reverb and depth help the sultry ambience in his voice a great deal. Of course this is a blind guess. Another guess is that if your looking for gear for male voices, you're primarily talking microphones. Otherwise you'll start leading into the whole 'warmth' discussion which is always just a hoot.

| I agree. I listen to the vocals and think that it absolutely has to be a U47, but I've absolutely full of shit before. Jasper PS -- Of course you always are holding out for the affordable exception. "His vocal mic? Oh, he liked the AT 4050." |
