HELP NEEDED (WORD CLOCK)

Hi guys I need your help!!!

setup:

MOTU 24 I/O (analog inputs)
MOTU 308 (digital inputs)

Apogee DA16-X (analog outputs)
Phoenix Nicerizer 16 (sum)
Apogee Rosetta 200 (back to digital)

Apogee Big Ben

The big ben is connected to the 308 (clocks both MOTU units), to the Rosetta and to the DA16-X.

I'd like to get rid of the Big Ben, since the DA16-X has the same clock.

Question: HOW TO DISTRIBUTE THE DA16-X WORD CLOCK TO THE OTHER 2 UNITS? Thru a T adapter?

And what about adding a 3rd unit? (say, a Waldorf Q that outputs digitally?)

Is it possible or should I keep the Big Ben?

Thanxxxx a lot in advance

using T to jump between will work for the most part as i understand it... but there seems to be limit to this and i'm not so sure but that your approaching it... i'ld probably stick with it unless someone comes up with some specific data to the contrary... although if memory serves most of the problems associated with wordclock distrobution have to do with multi room facilities...

Keep the Big Ben. Don't chain the word clock unless you have to. If you need the money, sell the Rosetta or some mic you are not using. The Big Ben is improving the sound of the MOTU. In my studio the Big Ben would be the last to go.

I'd keep the Big Ben, unless you really need the cash. In that case, I'd trade it for some type of word clock distribution box, like the Aardvark Sync DA (wanna buy mine? I've got a Big Ben so I don't need it) fed from the AD-16X.

The most important thing beyond that though, is to make sure your WC cables and connectors are the highest quality, like Apogee Wyde-Eye, and that they're all the same length and as short as possible, and come from the same source — don't daisy-chain. This is why keeping the Big Ben is your best bet, so the clock signal gets to all your devices (including the AD-16X) at the same moment in time.

Yeah, all cables are (crazy expensive) wyde eye.

I'll keep the Big Ben... the issue is not the money, but the fact that, sometimes, the DA16-X unlocks from the external clock. Like, 1 time a day or less.

Thanxx guys 4 ur help

When it unlocks does the converter go back to internal? Or will it stay on word clock, but simply not lock? If it goes back to internal there could be a problem with the unit. If it has a hard time locking, then it could be a bad cable. Also try wiggling the word clock cable to see if there is a short in it. This could answer your question about whether or not your cable is bad.
