Thread Starter | Radial users, J48 and the JDI. Just curious. I know the differences between the two, one is active, one passive, one has a jensen transformer the other doesn't. The question I have is what difference does that make? I'm looking to use this as just a Bass DI and I picked up the J48 from guitar center to try it out. For some reason it kept on clipping and gave me a click and pop filled bass track. This was bass plugged into the J48 with the pad on into a CL 7602. No clipping coming out of the 7602 into my 1010, but when the track is played there are peaks that are cut off for some reason. I'm assuming that's because the J48 is clipping..? Anyway. Opinions? |

| if the bass has active pickups, its best to go with a passive DI (like the JDI) |

| Check to make sure the J48 is getting phantom power by pressing the Low-Cut button and watching the red "48V Check" LED. It will flash briefly if the unit is receiving power. Couldn't hurt to swap out the cable as a troubleshooting step as well. I have successfully recorded active basses with the the J48 without needing the pad, but as the previous poster mentioned, a passive DI like the Radial JDI is often a better choice for instruments with active electronics. That's why I have one of each. |
