Hey guys, thanks for the invite but I'm probably not enough of a gearslut for that, I'm more of a "gearcheapdate".

Staring at computers also gives me a bit of a headache, so after you've taken me to dinner, I may not put out.

Attn: Bob Clearmountain-

I have here in my hands, a cashier check made out to you for the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00). That's five-hundred-dollars. U.S All you have to do is mix my 1969, miserably recorded multitrack tapes into a listenable mix...that nobody else on planet earth has ever previously agreed to tackle....and the five hundred dollars ($500.00) is then yours to keep. I'm right here in S. California, so I could hand-deliver the tapes and the five-hundred-dollar cashier check (that's $500.00 in U.S funds) to you any time.

(think he's heard this one before? think he'll go for it?)

Ok, my fifteen seconds of attention with Bob Clearmountain... there's one thing I've always wanted to know.

This is going to sound silly, but I really have always wondered: Is the last name real? I mean, really? It's just that it's the perfect last name for a mix engineer.

Client: "I want this album to sound as big as a Mountain... but at the same time, Clear as a bell! Can you do all of that? By noon?"

Studio:
"Better call Bob."

Best,
Adam

(Don't really expect BC will read this. Just always wanted to bring that up... )

Bob,

If you are not a gearslut, than most on this board better hang up their boots and call it day.

You have a 72 input SSL in your house for GOD's SAKE !! - It just doesen't get much sluttier than that!!

If you have been lurking around this site you will know that it is not all about the gear. There are many on this site who would love to hear about your approach to mixing and the philosphies that you employ. Your work has inspired many on this board. That being said, don't let us spook you out of making occasional contributions if that is what you are comfortable with.

Like many have stated already, thanks for taking the time to post, cheers!!

P.S. - If the computer drives you crazy I am sure we can find someone to dictate and type for you Thanks

Maybe it's all for the best. Bob Clearmountain is such a hero of mine, it's bound to be disillusioning to actually see him in the flesh... err, avatar... err....

Bob, I mean, Sir ClearMountain, Mixer of Mixers,

Okay, fine. You don't have to guest moderate. All you have to do is tell me how you made "Can't Stand the Rezillos" sounds so F*&*^%$' in AWESOME!

I just rediscovered it on vinyl the other day. One of my fave 80's records of all time, from a time when I didn't usually notice who engineered or mixed albums. And guess who's name I found on the back cover when I looked this time?

A) Why does this album sound so incredibly rock n' roll?

B) Is it just me or did this album disappear without a single whisper of interest from the general public?

????

PLEEEEEZ?

This seems to be the thread to compliment Bob on so I will take this opportunity to say thanks for the great work you've been doing with Jonatha Brooke over the past few years. I'm a long time fan of your's and of her's and I was thrilled to see that you were working with her. Just got her new live CD/DVD and it sounds fantastic.

That Bob is going places! Jules, maybe if you make the forum hot pink it will be easier on his eyes? Just needs a little incentive.
