Thread Starter | Building Home Studio. Practice Room
Hey everyone, I was wondering if I could pick all of your brains on how to go about constructing a home studio/Pratice Room. Its going to be mainly for my own projects and band and we already have a selection of equipment but i'm more looking for construction advice. My Parents have a garage at the bottom of their drive which they have kindly allowed me to use and convert into an area to record and practice but with the condition I build something alot more homely inside and try and dampen out as much of the noise as possible....So not to annoy neighbours I think. A friend of mine who is a joiner is helping me re-create a new roof, floor and walls within the garage but I was wondering which materials are best for insulation to help keep sound from leeking out and also what materials are good for the inner walls to help sound bounce well and deaden the room. Any help or advice would be amazingly appreciated. Feel free to email colinpmx@hotmail.com if you'd like to help me out a bit. Thanks alot for your time. Colin Pmx |

Go here and spend the next month or so reading up on everything. Way more info than you'd ever want to know. http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/index.php m I just built my room from the ground up. I used different techniques than you would to convert an existing room. For this, depending on the size of the room, you'll probably want to do a room within a room structure. For starters, triple 5/8" drywall on the walls, double up on the ceilings, insulate with regular pink stuff and caulk, caulk, caulk. There are so many things to discuss and talk about...just check out that site and you'll have a great understanding of what's involved. m |
