Don't waste a cent on it. Ssl can't make digital stuff to save their life. Hmmmm, must be why they hired waves in the first place. I know it's tempting to pull up something that says ssl on it while you mix, but really, that company needs to stop getting ridiculous amounts of money for their name and realize that they can't survive selling great equipment for ridiculous prices (the analogue stuff), and can't sell shit with their name on it and expect everyone to treat it as brilliant.
lol! Pure bs!

Perhaps the original G-Series Compressor is nicer than Duende, but Duende is still far away from sounding like your ass!

To Audiomichael: Yes you are right and I will try the waves SSL Bundle when I have a DAW it works on. Have you tried Duende already?
Wow, I'm shocked that so many people are having so much hassle with the W-SSL bundle! It's run perfectly under Sequoia 10, Nuendo 4 & Reaper 3. Same goes with the API bundle. Has anyone had probs with the API bundle under any particular hosts?

P.S: After spending *many* an hour on SSL, MTA & Trident consoles, I can assure whomever it may concern, the Duende does not sound like ass, it sounds like bollocks - the bollocks.

That's because the best system available was 8 track in 1968.
Love and all the remasters were done on todays best system available - Protools HD
Back on topic - Duende is very buggy and has far too much latency to used is pro situations
Waves SSL has only 3 samples of latency.

I love my Duende PCIe. I am in version II and don't plan to upgrade any time soon. It is rock solid and does a fantastic job.

I don't have to pay a WUP either.

I still am running 2005 Renn plugs, unupdated plugs, in rebellion to Waves.

guys guys

i'v been using the SSL by Waves, SSL and UAD and i have to say 2 things.

Waves: SSL eq suck ass but their bus Comp is the winner out them all!

UAD: SSL channel the eq is AMAZZING but the comp ENV has 2 settings: to fast or to slow... doesn't cut it really but worth for the eq alone.
UAD: SSL Bus comp don't suck but doesn't really add nothing special.

Duende (native): pretty much the same deal as the UAD... comp doesn't add nothing special but the EQ on the channel is amazing. the comp on their channel is not bad better then the UAD

none of them is perfect but if you ask me what i can't give up is the bus comp by Waves... (i'm just a comp *****). but hey the eq's by UAD and Nuende are really the best in the biz... reminds me of the NEVE eq's by UAD.
haven't heard anything like it in the native form...

if anyone know of a vst eq that sounds like these eq's i'd love to know!!

I think this can't be true. Waves SSL Channels are horrible, check hi mid and low mid on these . Duende is completely different sounding emulation. Much more transparent. UAD's SSL are also different from Waves but not so much from Duende but I dont think UAD made Duende emulations. IMO Duende sounds much better than Waves and slightly better than UAD.

What was this thread about? I guess the problem is that we are all hobbists. The masters are too busy to respond.

Waves SSL plugins are not as good as SSL Duende. That's my point of view.

The Waves SSL E Channel has a more aggressive character than the G Channel. The G channel strip has a smoother character which is closer to the sound of the UAD SSL channel strip. Depending on the situation the E Channel may be a better fit compared to the G Channel. However I find myself liking the G Channel more.
