Just picked up the new Jose James album, "No Beginning No End" on vinyl. Really great music, and sonically stunning. Featuring some awesome work from Pino Palladino, Chris Dave, Russ Elevado, and many other greats.
A lot of it was tracked at The Magic Shop as well as in London and Paris, but it looks like about half the tracking and all the mixing was done by Brian Bender at The Motherbrain in Brooklyn. Never heard of this studio before, and can't seem to find much info about it other than a vague facebook page and
this article about their (amazing-looking) console.
Anybody know anything about this studio? I really would like to know more about what their deal is! This album is smokin'.
