HD1 HD2 HD3 o' clock HD4 o' clock rock, HD5 HD6 HD7 o' clock .....

Hello slutz. A quick PT HD question for ya HD users out there.

I work on a HD1 system (a G5 with just the one and only core card). In a few weeks I am going to another studio that have a HD2 rig inhouse (G5 with core card & 1 accel card). I am wondering if I can bring my core card and integrate it with this HD2 system. Will i get HD3 out of this? or maybe... uh HD2 1/2..? Or will the evil spirit of digidesign not let me get anything out of this?

Thanks!!

Yes you can, but it must be placed after the Core card and before the accel card. I have 2 spare cores for just this case. Won't give you the full power of an accel card so, like you said it will be a HD2.5
DON'T FORGET: you have to find a flex cable to connect your core into the system - your HD1 didn't come w/ one so you'll have to buy one to make your setup work.

The guy I bought the HD3s from wondered why I bought 6 HD3's for our 4 HD5 systems, he contacted digi to find this info out instead of just asking what I was doing (if you're trying to do the math and it ain't working out, we also got 4 massive pack pro's which gives 4 full HD5s w/ 2 space cores)

Thanks for replies! Good info.

Anyone who can point me in the direction of this "flex" cable?

Call your dealer. list price is not $70, think you can find one for around $50 maybe, but don't hold me to that price, maybe thats just how i remembered it. may be $59 who knows. See what your dealer will give it to ya for
