Peterson strobe. That is way to fly, helps a lot when stacking guitars.

$100 on ebay.

The Peterson strobe is good.

I also keep a couple of Korg rackmount tuners around.

They're always patched into my interface so I can route any track to a tuner quickly.

BTW, there are three modes on the Korg; cent, Hz and strobe.

For general use, Hz is is like cent but it's "zoomed in" a bit and hence, more accurate.

I use the Peterson too & I rate it highly. Great for tuning the Rhodes & fixing intonation. Problem is that quite a few of musicians have difficulty with the strobe concept & you have to keep explaining how to use it all the time. For this reason, I keep a Boss TU12h around as well.

Nice thing about those Petersons is that you can temper the tunings for different instruments.

Another vote for the Peterson. I had a Boss for years but the Peterson blows it away. Though it does confuse some clients as to how to use it.

maybe I'm a goof but I found the Peterson tuners very hard to read. It was kinda anoying when I stopped in the middle of a take I was getting into and wanted to tune REALLY fast . . . maybe I just wasnt used to it.

For critical work I prefer the Peterson Strobecenter.
The 490/590 are also highly accurate, but slower as they rely on autumation to locate the pith. For very low pitches I find the manual mode more reliable.

I use the "fake" strobe V-SAM every day on stage and while it is not as accurate as the real strobes it is totally silent and the most accurate digital tuner out there.
I keep it plugged in during session work.

The stroboflip looks like a very good design and will be much more useful for stringplayers than any of the other Peterson models or for that matter any competitor.

The strobe is something you have to get used to. I have colleagues in the orchestra that gave up using it after one try.

Once you get used to it I find it to be much easier to fine tune with.
It's the last cent that really maters and can get really hard to pinpoint.

Try living with one for a month or so in non stressful environments before you take it to work.

TL InTune plug for ProTools is a great addition.

I also have Korg rackmount. I tried gigging with a Peterson Strobostomp and it near drove me crazy so I gave it to the guitar guy.
