Digidesign Interface Cable to USB/Fireware converter. Possible?

I was looking into (it a late hour: the reserch for the rig starts to become filled with crazy notions). anyway, here is one of them...

Would it be possible to connect a Digidesign 888 interface to a laptop? The 888 connects via Digidesign Interface Cable but a laptop wont have such connectivity.

Anyone out there know of a way? Maybe a Digidesign Interface Cable to USB/Firewire converter?

Also, if anyone knows off hand if the 888 is compatible with Pro Tools 7 or not, please give me a shout.

Cheers,

Jim.

No there is no digi-usb/firewire cable.. The 888 is compatible with PT7 as long as you already have a 192 i/o or 96 i/o with an open legacy port. Your sessions will be limited to 48KHz though...
