dbx sub harmonic bass synth, or bass octive stomp box. Not too sure what plug would do the same.

Or it might sound great. I'd try to mine what's there before adding anything, like samples or reamping. Just takes a quick second.

So it's 6 days later. Any luck?

does the speaker actually rest on the snare head?
do you just scoot the speaker off to one side so that you have space to mic up the top head, or are you micing it somewhere else?
thanks

narrowish boost between 100 and 200, wider cut somewhere between 400-800.

Just one more thing to think about

Sometimes I soundreplace the snare track but the sound of the overhead is still there messing everything up. A cool trick is to use a sidechain compresser on the overhead track fast in fast out feed by the snare track. What it does is dip the snare out of the overhead.

When they hear something that they think fits the sound they have in their head, I then tell them to go into the live room and hit the snare they brought in: "Does it sound like the snare drum we just listened to? No? Well you had better get in the car and head over to Guitar Center and find one that does if you want your snare to sound like that!"

Very funny. What do you call that, switch and bait?

We recorded a band a while back whos drummer told us he wanted his snare to sound like the drummer from The Red Chord.

Of course our first question was "Well, does your snare sound like the drummer from The Red Chords snare?". We then called him a few synonyms for idiot. But we've been mates with him for a while so we could get away with it. :p

Re-amping is a good idea.

Why not simply use a resonant filter?
