| Vocal mic for female nasal voice Hi, I'm running a small recording studio for demos and occasionally masters, and I would like your opinion... I live in Indonesia, and most of the Asian female singers here have somewhat nasal voice, (or what do you describe Avril Lavigne"s kind of voice?) and I think the mic just reveals it more. I have this Rode NTK mic going through Vintech X73i pre. For most male vocalists that have deep and low voice, it works fine, but for the female is always to nasal for me. Can you recommend any mic that could accomodate this kind of voice? Ari |

Are you trying to emphasize the nasal sound in a nice way, or counter-act and hide it? You might try hitting a compressor differently or trying a bit of subtractive EQ. I hear a lot of 3k in that vocal style.. more than most.

| So far, I have found that a TLM 103 will help with this problem. Hope this helps. Sincerely Dan Le |

| The NTK is the worst for that kinda voice. Try something a bit warmer and darker. Depending on budget, you can try an E49, Pearlman, FET47 etc...

| Hi, thanks for all replies. For Steve, I don't know if I should emphasize the nasal in a good way, or I should covered it up, do you have solution for both ways? I think I just want it to sound good. :) For everybody, thanks for all mics recommended, my budget is (if possible) is around US$500, $1000 is top of my budget. Ari |

| Antoher tip: I had quita a nasal singer (also through a Rode) and i was able to tackle a part of the issue by positioning the mic a bit under his mouth, aming a little at his chest.

| A Blue Mouse would probably work well for this. |
