if it sounds as good as it looks, it must be completely silent....

I like the chicken head knobs and all, but I'm more in the "if it sounded really cool I'd buy it despite its looks" camp.

Ah, but the germ pre is one unit where the knobs are smooth in a way that is truly analagous to the sound. It's an affirmation of "yes, more feedback, Dave"

My name's Dave, btw...

And who puts a "thick section" on a piece of audio gear? That's just wrong. It's like the cashier asking "you want small, medium, or large condoms, sir?"

Er... um... anyway, Long live the chickenhead.

Thumbs down oh dear..

My god... that looks terrible- Chandler have yet to make something that looks anything other than a poor plastic copy to me and this looks worse than that.
Looks count for nothing as to whether I buy something but you gotta make me want to try it!!

I'd prefer slightly smaller pidgeon heads as knobs but in my experience they start to smell become very slippery after a few days.

You make it look like you've never even seen what the Germanium looks like, and that's been out and talked about for quite some time now. This is essentially the same thing but with eq control. Not as sexy as some other gear, perhaps, but not the ugliest thing either. That said, the Germanium sounds incredible and this would likely be just as good.

I plan on eventually picking up a Germ or two, but I think it's one of the ugliest in appearance that I've ever seen.
