002 black lion audio mod clarification

For all of you who got the mod or are interested, I have a question regarding a responce Matt gave in an earlier post with why they stopped doing converters...This is the last thing I need to decide before I send in the 002 to get the repulisve super-out of control noisy pre's changed....Whether the converters will make a big difference...To decide if I should do the deluxe upgrade with converters rather than the regular upgrade

Matt said in an earlier post

"One aspect is cost--it is incredibly expensive to maintain the parts stock needed to do the converter modification, and if we were to continue to do it, there would more than likely be an increase in price. The other aspect is performance--we happened to to a blind A/B test between a unit with modified clock/analog stages, and one with clock/analog/converters, and we just don't feel like the extra cost is justified."

Is he saying that there just isnt a big difference between the mod with the converter and the mod w/o the converter? For those who got there 002 moded, could you help me out here on what the difference would be? Is it just that 7db of headroom?

Alright thanks

Stonerosses6300...I replied to your PM.

Recently, I received my 002 back from BLA with the deluxe 002 upgrade. There hasn't been an opportunity for me to put it through some testing but I intend to do so shortly. When I do I'll be happy to post comments and perhaps samples.

I'd just like to say that Matt from BLA was a pleasure to do business with. The samples I heard on the original BLA/002 thread (placed by commaKaze) impressed me enough to do the mod. Matt was very informative and communication was excellent. He's into it. I respect that.
