brass, elec guit, drums, bass in bad room

I have a lot of nice gear, yet am still very much a novice. I have a band that I'm trying to get into the studio where I am an intern. Nonetheless, they want to do preproduction at my house and possibly just use what's recorded in my house's basement during preproduction. . . basement is 16 x 30 feet w/ a 6-7 foot ceiling.

They're a jazz fusion band and would like to track everything live without headphones. Maybe overdub brass, but likely not.

So with this less-than-stellar tracking space, though I have a lot of GIK acoustic traps, mattresses, rugs, blankets, how would you approach this?

I am limited to seven tracks. . .

Mics at my disposal:
peluso 2247
u195
md421
4x sm57
sm7b
2x km184
2x AKG c460B

Band Members:
trumpet
trombone
sax
electric guitar
Bass
Drums. . .cymbals, kick, snare, 13' snare and FT only

These are seasoned players.

I was thinking 57 on the guit cabinet
bass direct with line out to the bass cabinet for live tracking without hphones
drums. . . either recorder man with the two c460s and the u195 or 57 on snare, MD421 on kick and one mono SDC overhead.

Brass. . . really have no idea. . . was thinking two 57s on all three of them or a combination of the 2247 and a 57 or SM7b.

Any advice is appreciated. . . I'm gonna need it. . .

Did you really say that the ceiling is 6 or 7 feet? Like you hit your head on any pipes that poke down?

I would worry that your room is going to put a hefty "sonic signature" on a band playing live that no studio magic would be able to undo.

Why not take them out and track on the back lawn? You got friendly neighbors?

Yeah, the joists--I suppose you call them that--hang down about a foot or so from the ceiling. . . I have hung acoustic panels above a space for drums.

We'll see.. . .
