| Gear maniac | Software guitar amp+cabinet simulation
Hello, I would like to record my e-guitar- stompboxes, than to tube preamp and heavily distorted sound to software like Amplitube or Guitar Rig (only for clean speaker simulation, not for distortion or any other effects)... so which program is the best for this type o application? Amplitude 2 or Guitar Rig or any other? I work under Sequoia. Thank you!!!

Guitar Rig2 would probably be best for this situation. You can just use the speaker and cabinet models and forget about the rest of the effects. You also get to chose mic placement/type etc. Amplitube is less 'modular' in this regard.

In my opinion the amp and speaker simulations in the Waves GTR bundle can not be touched. Make sure to demo all options before buying.

i love guitar rig, and all the other stuff too. but if what you want is JUST speaker emulation, it might be worthwhile to play with filtering and delays a bit. i have built some pretty convincing cabinet and room emulation in reaktor and some using ableton stock plugs. if you want, i can break it down to prolly the 5 or 6 most important parts of the signal chain. gotta look at my notes to do that though. - b Last edited by overclock; 30th July 2006 at 03:47 AM.. please, just do this, no need to thank me although you'll probably want to. record your guitar at low volume with a clean tone on a small practice amp, like, say, a roland micro cube. use a 57 or sdc 1' away. run THAT signal into your plug of choice, like, say, uad's preflex. no need to tell anyone, because they won't know anything's up. gregoire del ubk . |
