same pt session is now clipping...

This may very well be a dumb question, so feel free to tell me if I'm an idiot...

I started a session in one room goint straight to PT recording basics and drums... I was in another room on another HD system editiing/comping and the majority of the tracks, not all but most, were spending a lot of time in the red.

I'm really careful about my levels during tracking, everything was conservative on the meters and no audible distortion anywhere, but drums were definitely clipping and the meters were all lit up when I brought up the same sessioin in another room. Any thoughts?

If you pull the faders down does the clipping go away? Perhaps pre-fade metering was on in the other system and its not on in this system so you're seeing metering for playback not for what's on disk?

If you went from PT LE 32bit floating to HD 24bit fixed...your headroom would shrink!?
Plugins? pre/post fader metering? ...do not know.
good luck.
