| out of the top of my head i can't think of any solid state poweramp specificly designed for guitars. but tubebased poweramps like the vht 2150 or the mesa boogie 2:95 are headroom-monsters and would certinly give you that crystal clear tone. |

| One with big hooves | I'd avoid Rocktron like the plague... Bad build quality on those things. I'd hunt down an old 'Tubeworks' Mosvalve or maybe one of those old ADA Bipolar deals. Their Microtube series...whatever it was..."Real power amps glow in the darK"....phhhhbbbtt. Whatever. They're pretty reliable though. Don't sound that bad either. Trace Elliott also made a really good sounding solid-state power amp years ago but they're kinda prone to blowing up. It's tough to beat an old USA made PV or even QSC for brute strength & a bucks to watts ratio. There. That should keep 'ya searching Fleabay for a few days!

Sorry. I don't know from model numbers. The 'USA' series were cool amps. The Powerlights are ok... Check around & see what's out there. If it was made in the USA it's probably pretty decent & built like a brick shithouse...their overseas product, like most...has left me wanting... Cheers!
