| Apogee Rosetta AD v Rosetta 200/800 Hey all, Does anyone know what the score is regarding the Apogee Rosetta AD, as I believe it is the original product in the Rosetta line. Is it using identical converters to the 200 and the 800, and if not how large is the sonic difference? I run at 44.1 so I'm not worried that the AD doesn't (with standard option) have higher sample rate support. Regards, Chris |

| I'd be interested in this, too. I have the chance to buy a Rosetta AD for ~ $ 600. Is it worth it or should I rather buy another more recent converter? |

| Totally different converters. The new series is much better than the old... not even worth $600 IMHO but YMMV. If I recall properly, even the Apogee MiniME is a step forward at this point, and you get 2 decent, usable pres all for $900 new!

| Very glad to hear this - as the Rosetta AD on ebay is long gone, and instead I bought a Mini-me ;) Chris |

| Thanks for the reply. I don't need the pres and the portability of the Mini-Me though and I've heard bad things about its build quality. I've also been considering the RME ADI-2 or a used Mytek (96khz version). How do these two compare to the Mini-Me? |

The build quality of the Mini-Me is quite good. We even have one in the office here that went through a studio fire.....its charred black and burnt to the point you can still smell the ash inside it, yet it works perfectly! | |
