Definitely one of my favorite singers of all time. I got a bootleg of the japanese version of Decadence. It's no glassJaw, but worth a listen for anybody who likes music.

I recorded the original version of "Graduation Day".

These guys are probably the most talented guys I have ever recorded.

Daryl is responsible for a whole scene of singers.

No editing, no autotune, no nothing.

Just record a few takes and have a ball.

They're also a great bunch of guys and deserve success more than just about anyone.

those guys do a ton of blow. like, literally a ton. 2000 pounds. (well, maybe not anymore. i haven't been in the same bar as them for at least a year)

glassjaw opened for my band years ago on long island. they were awful and broke up on stage.

wow.....i never expected a HA/GJ discussion. i can have a shit ton of input here, but its not worth anything to write about my love for Gj and shit. growing up/living on LI, daryl and GJ were local legends (keep in mind, im 18). my girlfriend is obsessed with him. hes great and all, but he lost all his passion and conviction. i watched a quick video of his new band, house of blow, and the recording of their demo. it shows him laying down the track in a bathroom into a 57 or 58 (i could be wrong though. havent seen it in a long time). hes on his sidekick half the time, blurts out the hook, then goes back to his sidekick. in GJ, he was out of his mind. all that energy and power were true, raw emotion. it was incredible. i had the privlage of seeing them in a backyard in 2003. i saw GJs 2 shows at the downtown last summer, and man. he lost it. must be from all the shroms he does before his HA sets.
as for the new HA cd, i think its pure garbage. just straight up pansy rock (refrained from using the other p word). their first cd, decadence, was amazing. it had a variation of rock, mellow, and mellow rock tunes. the unreleased demos of that cd were even better.
sorry everything is all scrambeled and not making too much sense. i wrote this quick and im super tired.

agreed! the final product of the new cd is horrible. i can barely stand listening to it. but as far as head automatica goes, all i have to say is BRING BACK THE JAW!

did you record the version that ended up on the record?

I bought the new record yesterday and i have to say that i really like the sound of it, even tho' it is pretty squashed over all...the record was produced by howard benson....some tracks were mixed by CLA and some were mxed by Mike Plotnikoff.

Would you mind sharing some info on how you recorded Graduation Day?

cheers

Funny. I just saw the video for Graduation Day yesterday and the autotuning was driving me crazy - NOT the mastering. I guess that is the sound they were going for, but it just seemed WAY overdone.

My version is not on the record and sadly it will probably never be heard.

Word on the street, well, word from one of the members as of a couple months ago is that they had just finished recording... right before HA went on tour I think. He could have been completely b.s.'ing, but he went to the effort to explain that "you didn't hear it from me", so who knows.

I've never seen HA live, but I was gonna go next month... but your guys' reviews don't sound real hot (I haven't heard the new record) but if it's missing the palumbo passion, I can't see it being anything special.

My company recorded the audio portion of the current live material the label is using for promotion. Bret Eliason mixed it. The band is great, what you see is what you get. When I got back to the studio, I turned up the faders and it was there, raw energy.
