Again, we will continue to offer the DIY500 Minimal Kit in one form or another... and your name is still a permanent fixture on any waiting lists, Brad!

However, after selling the DIY500 Minimal Kits for this long, I have changed my opinion. That circuit is as simple as it gets, and yet people building these modules continue to screw up, I continue to loose money trying to help them, and having shoddy preamps out there with the Eisen Audio name on them gives users a false impression of the potential, and devalues all of the excellent-sounding DIY500-based units that I and many DIYers have successfully constructed. In other words, having QA (Quality Assurance) determined by anyone who is willing to try is devaluing my brand name and everything I do. I need to be in control of the assembly quality in order to guarantee consistently well-built products, and therefore I can not offer any more kit versions. Eisen Audio will continue to produce the DIY500 mic pre template, and possibly an mkII, but will try to avoid anything more complicated for the DIY audience, such as an EQ. I'm sorry to disappoint!
And this is exactly why I don't try to DIY..Leave it to the Pros.....

Hey Wiggy,

Check this out!

I've finally listened to you. Unfortunately, it took me a while to realize something that simple could be so useful. Soon after the initial discussion here, I got carried away developing more comprehensive EQ circuits, but went back to the drawing board after using a lot of old program EQs (e.g. Lang PEQ-1, Klangfilm RZ062, Pultec EQP-1A) on some records that I mixed earlier this year. Then I understood! I wished I could afford regular access to something with such minimal controls and major vibe, so the answer, of course, was to come up with an affordable alternative and offer it up to people in the same situation. Thanks to you, Wiggy, and the rest of the fine folks who first pitched me this challenge 18 months ago! I hope you'll enjoy the outcome.

So what happened? I read this whole thread today, and started getting excited about how me and my friend might actually get to make a mixing console out of something like this.

At least give some details to the group diy people...

BTW, you see DIY stuff for pees and eqs, maybe soon a 500 comp, but never anything on a master section. Anyone know a resource for this?

That's a real shame. I have a lunchbox with a 6-pack of API Eisens in it. And was hoping this year to make a lunchbox of 2 EQ's and 4 more assorted pres to go with it. I can't live without these pre's. They sound great on everything!

I used to solder for a living back in the day. Mine look like ya bought them in a store. The concept of that EQ is great to. I just didn't have the funds at the time they were released to get another lunchbox and 2 EQ's.

Hello Sir,

I would like to know when to expect my kits. Have you begun shipping yet?

Thanks!

Eric

Has anyone else received their new DIY kits yet?
