SPL Volume Controller!

Hello Everyone.

I have a small bedroom studio, daw + few synths, using RME multiface converters, Mackie Big Knob, and some planet waves cables running to Dynaudio BM6a' monitors.

Recently I have removed the mackie big knob from the chain to hear if what i've read on this forum, regarding big knob degrading the sound quality is true. And I was accually suprized that there is a quite a diefferance. Running straight from the rme to the monitors produced better (crispier) sound. The problem is that I really need a volume controller for my DAW. Recently I have seen The SPL 2 volume controller online. I've checked out their webpage. I was wondering if anyone over here has a-b the mackie big knob and the SPL 2 unit? I think that SPL is much higher quality unit than the mackie big knob, but i haven't heard it, and I can't seem to find any reviews online. I just want something that will sound better than the mackie big knob, but I don't have too much money to spend, and the SPL unit fits the price range. None of the stores around my area carry the spl brand, to bad.. so I would probably order online. I've also looked at other units, such as the prosonus volume controller, BuT i've heard so much good stuff about SPL equipment... Does any of you use the SPL volume controller? Is the sound quality of the spl a lot better than mackie big knob.?.. Thank's for any replies.
