Thread Starter | anyone used a trident s100?
ive read the other oram hating threads here. i have no opinion of the guy or his company (i like the old trident desks tho). i do think the s100 looks pretty fresh and im considering it to sum my DAW tracks. (yes ive read the rumor about it being a rehash of an older crappy console). im considering it over the dangerous 2 bus becuase the s100 has the mic pres and eq on each channel. i think it looks kinda cool too. has anyone actually used one? |

i used to own one. my band mate has one and still uses it. i think they are pretty cool. they sound good though the pres get hissy when you crank them up all the way, something i was able to live with. i think the eq sounds really good. really nice for anything rock. the d-sub breakout situation is a little chinsy, all d-sub I/O terminates w male 1/4" so you need a patchbay straight off to use aux's, etc. physically it's quite chunky and weighty. it does run hot but not terribly so. i bought it sight unseen based on a 30 day full refund return policy. no big deal there. i recently sold it to purchase a larger console. the other s100 owned by my bandmate currently works as a DAW input sidecar beside a flickinger console and the s100 holds it's own. i don't have any beef w john O. the 'father of eq' is a little annoying, but whatever. i think the s100 is a pretty cool thing and sounds good. |

I'd probably get the small format Studer console from Vintage King. It'd be more rocking. Steve www.mojopie.com |
