B. C. Rich guitars - opinions please

Hello, I need new guitar for extreme distorted sound and B.C. Rich falls into my eyes. What's your opinions/experiences? Eg. for B.C.RICH - Platinum VIRGO ONYX? I can get it for about 450 euro... Thanx for every comments!

b.c rich is ok, but in that price range i would look at ESP/LTD, Schecter or Jackson first, and try to get something with seymour duncan or EMG pickups....

simple: cheap bc rich - there are better options as already suggested.

handmade bc richs are a different league, both price-wise and tone-wise. excellent guitars imho!

You cant really beat the value of the 200 dollar Warlock. They actually have very nice necks, and sound ok also.

A little more money, and I would try to get into a Schecter, they are just the best thang goin now, IMO.

but they're just so pointy.....

I'm a fan of the original Rich gtrs....bich, mockingbird, etc. I still remember staring at the pictures in the Aerosmith Live Bootleg record where Joe Perry has all those cool gtrs with the western shirts and his jeans tucked in his boots. That's so rock and roll.

The new import rich's are surprisingly good
no they are not Bernie Rico era quality but as good if not
better than other gtr's in the same price range. You can
get a warlock or mockingbird for $500 new. Neck through
decent quality pickups and hardware.

Better than any Fender or Gibson in that price range.

Don't be fooled these days by the fact that they are imports.
Asian's can program CNC machine as well as Americans.......

The only differences in gtrs these days is the quailty of wood and parts
They are all machine made so quailty (other than fretting) is not an issue

I used to borrow an original 10-string Bich back in the day, and I thought it was an excellent guitar. I think it had Bill Lawrence pickups.

The cheapo BC Rich models are WAY better than anything Squire at the same price....funny thing is, Samick makes their guitars alot better than they make the Squires, any of them. The 100 dollar Squire, having the same p/u config as a better strat, makes them a trainwreck.... too much wiring for a cheap guitar, and the 5 pos switches and pots almost always go bad pretty quick.

One of the cheap Epi's has one p/u, one knob,, thats smart... not alot of wiring to go wrong.

I agree, the machining tolerances are getting very good, but if you are going to put 3 p/u and 3 knobs in a 99 dollar guitar, it should also ship with a book of matches!!!

I can't really verify it, but I've heard there are only a couple of major Korean guitar factories that make the majority of exports, so it may be splitting hairs to debate the quality of Korean guitars... I've had a number of Schecters, and they're very similar to ESP's, I just usually like the cosmetics a little better.

I've got two BC's right now. One is the VERY cheap Warlock bolt on neck ($250 US), and the other one is a Warlock with a set-neck, but it's quite a bit more, but still VERy reasonable. There is hardly ANY comparision between the two, the set-neck Warlock has a VERY nice neck, almost playing like my LP Customs, but for $250 US, the bolt-on Warlock, has a suprisingly good tone, neck, etc. It could stand differernt PUPs, but for that kind of money, I've NEVER played anything close.

GO FOR IT!

If you are serious into playing long-term, don't buy cheap guitar.
Difference between 500 $ and more expensive instruments (except visual) is not obvious immediately, but really good guitar will be always good and I never found really good guitar at low price.
