Sound of American Analog Set

If you're familiar with this band, I'm wondering how they are achieving their albums' sounds. Tape I imagine is in there somewhere. . . but if you don't have tape, how would you go about getting close to the sound?

Cool band. I saw them in Detroit sometime in the 90's there were 6 other people there but they still put on a great show. It's the kind of music you can enjoy even with nobody esle around. They came out and talked to us, very nice guys and gals.

I don't now how they record but I always pictured it as a home recording that they did in their living room because of there album titled "from our living room to yours." I havent heard much past this album but it was a little more hi-fi than there "the fun of watching fireworks." I'd be curious also.

Yeah, mellow, warm sounding stuff--but, sorry, no idea of what made it that way. Cool band for sure. Love "The Golden Band," especially track 1. Always nice to get some good indie music discussed here.

Good to hear you guys like that sound too. I like ultraproduced Steely Danesque recordings, but find it sometimes too sterile. There's something about that warm, raw, grainy Indie sound that AmAnSet and others have. So much character there.

So, anyone know willing to guess or can share what he or she knows?

Love them, one of my best memories from my post-school time in Boston was sitting up with two friends all night late in winter with AmAnSet on, talking about any/everything, and feeding pizza boxes, phonebooks, and roommate's paper drafts to the fireplace to keep it going once the wood ran out.

I've seen pictures of them recording in what appeared to be a house.
