Thread Starter | Vintage ribbon mic repair: where? I have a couple of RCA BK-5 which need to be re-ribonned, could you folks recommend me a place where to have this done? I live near Montreal Canada but I'm willing to ship them in the US... Thanks for the help, and all the info on this most useful forum! |

| For RCA stuff I have found Clarence Kane of Enak Mic Repair to be tops. His details: 420 Carew Avenue Pitman, NJ 08071 (856) 589-6186 Fax: (856) 589-7791 Contact:Clarence Kane. Website: http://enakmic.com/ Stephen Sank is also supposed to do good work, but I have never used him so cannot vouch for it. A little web searching will, however, find a ton of people who vouch for him: Stephen Sanks website

| Oh right, forgot about wes. Yes he does excellent work. I have purchased from him before and everything is on the up and up. I would not hesitate to use or recommend him. The bonus is that all his team are fountains of information! His IS a bit pricier than both Enak and Sank, however. I do get the feeling that is has a bit faster turnaround (enak could be 1-2 months, no idea for sank but I last spoke with him about 3 years ago and turnaround was several months). |

| I have the same question, I have 2 JV74s that need some attention. Is there any one in Europe doing this?

| Another vote for Clarence Kane. He did a great job on both of my 77dx's, and I talked to his wife for a bit on the phone and she was very sweet. Between Wes Dooley and Clarence Kane, you got it covered.

| Stephen Sank did my BK-5's.....good, fast, informative (returns emails fast) and seemed pretty low cost to me. plus there's the added family history there, so that's kinda cool too...he can also do authentic cosmetic repairs besides the ribbons, which also seemed very reasonable....but i like mine beat up looking. |
