Elysia is the only company where I could mix solely with their lineup and not want for a single thing from another manufacturer. That have so much functional and great sounding stuff.
I'm going to pick up an Nvelope one of these days soon!
Regards,
Frank

Never listen to opinions regarding gear. For every 50 nobodies on Gearslutz that say a piece of gear doesn't sound good enough to cut it, I know at least one somebody who is cutting it in NYC with that piece of gear.
I was very upset with elysia. I walked up to look at the museq as I've been really interested in getting one. Everyone was sitting down chatting not paying attention to the people looking at the gear.. Except for one kid.. He had no knowledge of the gear. I had several questions he couldn't even get someone to answer for me. I then asked "is Rueban here?" Sorry for the spelling.. He replied "no be doesn't like these conventions" I then asked well do you guys have the alpha compressor here I'd love to see it". He replied no they don't like bringing it cause it's so big and they arnt very happy with it" I said wtf? He just laughed and said "everything was hooked up but the apogee here is being a bitch so I can't demo it for you. I then asked can those guys get it figured out?" And replied they are on their lunch break". I was very upset and will not be purchasing their eq now. But thanks to Rupert neve designs and millenia for being super helpful.
It's really not like this. Ruben loves being at trade shows and talking to people...
In fact, we have made 4 trade shows this year already, including the NAMM.
We just can't do more, as we are a very small team and need to cover many aspects of running the company.
As far as I know, the alpha compressor demo unit is currently shown at the new VKLA showroom.
I guess that is the real reason why it has not been exhibited at the AES this year.
Well, enough explanations. I am sorry for this unpleasing experience.
Please accept our excuses for it - I hope next time we can do better.

I can only echo Dominik's sentiments. What he's not saying is that he wasn't there because his wife just gave birth to their first child. We thought we had pretty good coverage.....but apparently paintitblack was not able to get what he needed, and that's obviously not what we want. The Gearslutz lounge in our booth right next to the elysia setup was probably a bit distracting as well - that would have been the people sitting down and chatting.
I also apologize that you were given incorrect info. As Dominik mentioned, Ruben does quite enjoy showing off his babies at trade shows...and the alpha is, in fact, at VKLA's showroom at the moment. As to them not being happy with it - I'm not sure how anybody could not be happy the alpha, much less the people who created it.
@paintitblack - if you want to try out the museq, please let me know and I will make arrangements to get our demo unit to you.
This is one of my favorite products of the AES. Its really impressive! I already order mine
Best regards.
delcosmos.
I really dig Elysia. The Envelope 500 was the only piece of gear I bought from AES. It's one of those tools that can do some really crazy stuff that I can't really do with other pieces of gear. I'm continually impressed by their designs. I look forward to learning it. Cheers. - paul

All I can say is that from my experience, Elysia are really friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic-about-what-they-do dudes. Best customer service ever. Uber-good gear. The negative experience described above must have been that 1-in-a-million freak coincidence where lots of random bits add up in an unfortunate way.
My 2ct (well, not a lot more than 2ct left after just ordering an Alpha comp to go with my MusEQ, mPressor, xPressor and Envelope...*grin*)
Exactly why I was bummed! Cause I'm super in love with their products and I knew this kid was giving me lousy information. I prob should've waited till someone else's was manning the booth. I would be very interested to demo a product as I live in mt and no one here owns anything
I recently received an E-mail about the Elysia plugins So who has had a chance to compare the Plugins directly against the hardware ? Particularly the ALPHA comp.
Any body have say for instance a % comparison estimate as in the Plugs are 50% or 75% or 95% etc. of the way toward the hardware.

I have never compared the plugin alpha against an hardware alpha but the plugin is very good on its own. It is worth the money for what it does, I don't really care if it is alike or not the real alpha.
I do know I still want a real alpha, let's see how's business in 2013...
but the plugin is very good on its own. It is worth the money for what it does,
Ok good to know thanks for the reply, Do you only do mastering or do you also mix and use the alpha plugin as an insert on individual tracks or on the 2 bus or both depending ?

Just mastering here. Even though I have an xpressor, which is my first choice when I need transparent compression, the alpha plugin gets used when I need to compress in m/s to get more control. But they are both very clean tools.

Thanks I am leaning towards purchase it's more a matter of when
