Bad Day (no not the song)

So my wife and I take the first vacation that we have taken in years - a week in las vegas. Yesterday, a day and a half into the trip, we get a call from the cat sitter..it is raining in my house. Apparently a pipe burst on my second floor and dropped water down to the dining room (all over the wood floors and furniture) and down further into my home studio. Needless to say, I'm pissed about the damage to the house, but I'm really pissed that my home studio is flooded (about an inch on the floor and through the walls) and out of commission for a while. Yesterday I was all set to sit out by the pool at the Bellagio and do some gambling, then it turned into a mad dash back to Atlanta and back to a mess. I guess the good news is that nothing was directly on the floor, so none of my gear or my guitars were even near the water. What a vacation

Sorry to hear that... it sounds like a big bummer. But at least no instruments or gear were F'd so that's huge, right there.

How's the kitty?

you might want to write a letter to the bellaggio--find out who their customer care honcho is--telling them how wonderful it was to be there for a day, such a great place, etc, and what a bummer it was to have to run home for this disaster...and end with something like "our budget doesn't afford us many vacations, but the next time we're able to save up enough $, you can bet we'll be back."

you may well get comped.

Good suggestion...and you are right, they treat their patrons very well. Once I found out, I went to them and gave them my story. They helped a great deal with cancelling and refunding "non-refundables" and they helped out with arrangements to get me home. If you are in vegas, you can't go wrong with them. I was really impressed. I just wish that I could have stayed for the whole trip...that place really kicks a..(and being home with this mess (floor is being ripped up right now) really sucks a..).

Thanks again,
Mike

well, good luck with the house and the studio--assume you know what to do with any peices that got dripped on (i just had my own torrential rain mini-disaster)...and yeah, the belaggio rocks as a place to stay--but i always get killed at their blackjack tables!
