Need Boston/Cambridge Studio for overdubs

Looking for a studio for overdubs on a folk/rock record. Trying to keep budget low and eliminate extra NY trips for group by locating a hometown place. Any recommendations appreciated.

Here's a link to a regional music rag's classified section. Several studio links that may help.

KISSY PIG

I'll second Kissy Pig...that Neve is killer among all of Kerm's other killer gear, great room, and Kerm is a super nice guy...I've tracked there...you'll like. Our studio's across the street, and we go over there all the time.

Do it up...

I work out of a handful of places in the area. Gimme a ring and we can figure out what's gonna work best for you.

i used to do work out of Moontower in Cambridge. Pro Tools HD and 16 track Otari. console is a Ghost. Decent mics. I used to bring my own. They've got a U87, an AKG solidtube, and your usual selection of dynamics.

Zippah? I can't recall, where was he in Allston?...wish I could though and hit up that Broadcast Neve...You know Kerm though? I was actually just chillin' with Kerm about a week ago at Kissy Pig while my buddies did a mixdown on his Neve...oh the niceties...

You must know Mr. Butch, "King of Allston." I guess he was in jail or something and they finally just set him free from what I heard.

Is it against the rules, or just in bad taste to promote my own studio in this thread? Just north of Boston now after 10 years in Somerville. Crazy amount of vintage instruments/amps/keys/mics/etc.

Just curious -- Is Downtown Recorders lost and gone forever, or is it just renamed, or still there, or what? I worked there in the late 80s for a bit.

Aw, man, now you're bringing back some memories! I used to see Mr. Butch in the late 1970's standing outside the Bentley Smoker (drug store/cigar shop on the corner of Mass Ave & Boylston in Back Bay, where I guess there's now a bank or a convenience store) playing some red no-name electric guitar through a Pignose. He was basically just making noise; you could sort of tell he'd picked up a guitar lick or two somewhere in his storied past, but it had been so corrupted by whatever else Mr. Butch had been through that it was almost indistinguishable from talentless wanking. But he was *sincere*, and he was out there playing every day.

And then a few years later he "relocated" to Allston. I remember seeing him on Harvard Avenue a lot, but playing his guitar less so. My favorite moment though was when I wandered in to Mr. Music, & saw Mr. Butch trying to sell his cherished red electric guitar! I actually heard him say "C'mon, I need some money now, Mr. Butch is gonna get some pussy tonight!"
