PZM recommendations

I like PZM mics for a variety of uses, but the ones I inherited are probably not exactly high-end - they are an old pair of Crown Twelve SP's. I know there are a number of manufacturers making boundary mics these days - e.g. I've seen a lot of ads for a Sennheiser PZM recently.

I'd be interested in checking out a few of the better mics, so can someone suggest which PZM mics are considered to be at the top of the heap in terms of quality?

I always think of the Crown PZM 30D as the standard. There have been some good mods for the Realistic PZM's over the years, as well.

There was a thread about recording drums at Michael W's. place where Fletcher detailed how to make any mic a pressure zone mic by using a magazine to get the spacing right.

Anyone seen that thread, or know how to do this? It sounds simple, but I may be missing something.

So the Crown PZM 30D is the gold standard of PZM mics? Is this the consensus view among pros?

Just want to see if anyone else will weigh in...

Thanks.
