Difference in sound phoenixaudio drs-2 DI input vs Nice DI

Is there any difference in sound and circuitry between the instrumentinput on a phoenix audio drs-2 and the phoenix nice DI?

Im asking this question cause i tracked some synths thru the drs-2 at a friends place and really liked what it did to my tracks.

Its saves me a lot of cash just buying the nice DI since the only instruments i track at home are synths and bassguitar.

Is there anyone that could help me out with this one?

thanks for the help

I think this has been discussed here but I would have to say it is exactly the same DI stage as in the DRS-2. An e-mail to Phoenix Audio could probably clarify.

I am also very interested in finding this out. I have been thinking about adding the phoenix nice DI for tacking synths.

Thanks,

Robby

Thanks for letting us know about this thread Colin!

All I can say is that a Nice DI is precisely a DRS-2 without the mic-input and its associated circuitry.

You could remove the output-stage and DI circuit from a Nice DI and insert it into a DRS-2 without any change in performance - everything is identical - transformer, DI input buffer etc.

The Nice DI came about after requests from DRS-1 + 2 users who didn't want to tie up a whole preamp for DI duties, and wanted to know if Phoenix could supply just the DI circuitry with a reduction in price.

Not sure what else to say really... Any observations regarding the sound of the DRS DI apply to the Nice DI - there should be plenty of comments in the archives here.

Don't hesitate to ask if there's anything else I can help with.

Have a good weekend!

Justin
