TapeOpCon '06 "build your own eq" question..

Hey everyone!
Anyone here finish there "build your own eq" build at tapeopCon?

I finished the pcb loading, but there are no instructions online as to where capaciters cx1,cx2,cx3,cx4,and LX1 go on the 2p6t rotary switch...

I'de love to finish and test my EQ out, but I'm stuck.

Any help ?

Bend one leg of the inductor so that it wraps around rotary switch contacts A2-A3-A4-A5 and solder each. Bend the other leg so that it hangs above contacts B5-B4-B3-B2. Bend one leg of the .01mF cap to wrap around rotary switch contacts B5-B6 and solder the other leg to the "hanging" inductor lead. Solder one leg of the .015mF cap to B4 and the other lead to the "hanging" lead. Repeat with the .022mF cap and contact B3, as well as the .033mF cap and contact B2. Lastly, solder a lead from contact A6 to the end of the "hanging" lead.
Then just solder leads from the center A-B terminals to the Z-R terminals on the PCB. Viola.

My God! Thank you fellow gearslut!
I didn't get a copy of that sheet you've got there. Was that something that was handed out later on?

How do you like your eq?

Oh, one more question though..

how do I tell where the numbering starts on my rotary pot? I'm trying to identifiy where A starts ect.. I tried to figure it out by looking at your photo, but can't quite get it.
Thanks a bunch!

There's no "polarity" to the switch, you can call one side "A" and the other side "B" at random, just match the contact numbers to where they are in relation to the center terminals. Mine is wired so that when you're looking at the switch from the side, with the shaft facing down and the contacts facing up, the side tab that says "ALPHA" is facing me. With the switch held that way, I used the contacts on the left side as A1-A6 and the ones on the right side as B1-B6. Looking at it like this while comparing it to the diagram, everything should fall into place.

I just got back into Tucson. I left a couple days after the conference ended and hadn't gotten the EQ back out again until I saw this thread. I ordered a face plate for it the day before I left and it still hasn't arrived. I gotta make a call and see what's up with that...
