Snare Samples

I am mixing a 15 song CD this weekend and I'm going to trigger the snare drum.
I normally don't, but I would spend more time getting it to sound decent than just replacing it.
Anybody know of some good samples sites that have instant download?
I don't have time to order a cd.
I've tried drumagog, but don't like there demo sounds.
Are the samples better if you purchase the program?
I've been using the sample cds I've had for too long and I'm bored with them. (Bob Clearmountain, and AKAI).
Its a punky/metal band, slower tempos so I'm looking for natural samples, not 909s and 808 stuff.
I liked the sample Michael Wagner had of a kick, if there is a snare that goes with the kit, please let me know where to find it.
I will be mixing in Cubase SX, PC.
Thanks,
Matt

Are these usable with Sound Replacer, somehow?

Or, if not, has anyone converted these to WAVs, or a similar standard audio file?

I don't have drumagog, but I am curious, and it says they aren't multisampled anyway, I think...

The Sneap files are not multi samples because they're meant to be blended with a natural snare. For multisamples, check out Drumkit from Hell, AKAI Mega Drums or any Kontakt library (Native Instruments).

i wish the snare was a multi sample.

the kick drum is great though. for extreme metal all i would use is 1 sample anyhow on a kick.

Drumagog just added a few gigs of new free sounds. It's a 4 gig collection now. One of the kits you used to have to pay a hundred bucks for is now free.

It works well, and is much better than sound replacer.

I use it whenever I HAVE to.

Yea, I know, I guess I was wondering if someone might post a WAV for each of the sounds, so that those of us without drumagog might check them out?

Justin,
Yes..and they are quite usable..although that 4Gb size is a tad misleading
Half PC downloads / the other half is MAC. Almost 4Gb for these two installers together.
And the GOGs are the same//as a matter of fact one can just copy the folders onto either platform once they have been unpacked..

take care,

It seems to me like the Sneap samples are multifile.
Their showing up as multi in drumagog.
Thanks again, they did the trick!

I've heard a lot of people using these Sneap samples (myself included). And these samples sound great! However, (and I guess I was abusing it) every drummer I had in here started sounding the same. (All my fault) So I started making my own samples here in the studio. I now make every drummer do 'sample takes' at the end of the session. I've found that it brings out the personality of that drummer replacing his 'hits' with samples from his kit. It just sounds more natural.

this is always your best bet if the kit sounds good.

Yeah, I just allways forget to have the drumer take the time to make sample hits.
I'll try to remember, I have a drum session tonight.

Just a quick PS to this... I like to do the samples at the top of the session when the heads and ears are fresh. After I have really focused on the drum tuning and mic positions.

The drum tuning is something that I like to freshen up between takes and before I start a new song but once you are in the flow of tracking you can crush the vibe by taking the whole session down to retune the whole kit back to the way it was from the top.

To me the best drum sounds seem to always come from the first few takes.

To each their own…. that's just my take.

i agree!

i made the mistake of not tuning once and the snare head got real loose and by the end it was a big difference.

after that lesson was learned i use lug locks and the top and bottom snare heads.
