Thread Starter | what console for $4000 - 5000, and where!?
Hi
we are planning to buy a console in the pricerange 3000 - 5 000. what would you suggest.. we would like a console with character and "soft" eq and a decent headroom. so far ive been thinking, mci, soundcraft 500, 600, amek Tac scorpion, amek magnum, trident trimix etc.. what is your suggestion?
Since i live in sweden its pretty hard to find dealers of these kinds of things. therefore im also wondering if you know any good companies that have these things. both europe, (germany, uk, italy, france, denmark, norway, sweden) and USA.
if youve seen one that would fit me, please pm.
thanks for taking time to read this!!
and btw, did i put it in the right forum!?

A Soundcraft 6000 would be in that price range and a great design. A Trident 65 is also in that range. Don't buy a Ghost. Buy used.

A friend works with one in a studio (China Town, NY) and it's excellent for what he's doing... indie rock, new soul, retro dance & hop hop. Definitely more reliable than MCI and way better than Soundcraft IMO but again, you ain't finding a good working one anywhere near that budget.

OK first off rather than search for the board its self search to see if there is support for the board avalible i.e parts and knowledgeable service
2nd find a couple of consoles that have support and sound you like
make sure it will fit your needs a couple of years from now!
then take your time and fin one in decent shape!

my plan was to see what mixers people reccomend, and the the people who would do the service if there are parts available, support etc, how expensive it is etc, and if everything seems ok, buy it!

If you can wait for about 9 months or so, the Toft ATB-16 should be perfect for you.

is this a good deal?
STUDER 902
24 mono-channels, 2 stereo-channels.
It has 12 compressor/group-faders on board and also 8 group-faders.
It is a 4-buss console with 4 auxiliarities (One of them is stereo).
This console has no direct-ouputs and also no insertions but both are easy
build in (Unbalanced).
3500 euro
is it possible to use it for recording and mixdown it thats missing. how?

DDanyboy, please do yourself a favor and contact Toft Audio Directly to find out information on when you can get a new Toft console or where to take it for a test run.
They should be shipping to very soon.. as in a matter of weeks, not months according to echo unit.
Toft tel: 1-877-563-6335
The important thing is that you make up you own mind and find the console that is right for your needs. Whether it be a Toft console or not.
Some people in these forums have hidden agendas.
Best of luck in your search.
Jim
