What is this unit, who knows anything? its not on buzzes site, but its on atlas, anyway, looks liks its s'posta match the 500 series buzz pre, but its double wide

why is it double wide?

and is that ok for 500 series racks, may it be 2 channel? or have a SC loop for the other(taken up channel/space?) in\out?

if its not a 500 series im not confused, but, i really am confused by the picture of the unit i saw on atlas.

yes it is 500 form.
one channel.
it is two spaces so it will have all the god like compression Tim intended it to have.
please do not be confused.
this thing is for all us lunch box freaks.

Hi noiseflower,

The Essence opto compressor is an API (tm) 500 Series compatible.
It's class A, with Lundahl transformer input and output.
It will be available September 1 this year.
It's a mono unit but takes 2 spaces, this is the first opto compressor ever made for the 500 series that I am aware of. There are too many electronics to fit it into a 1 space slot. Since it takes up two spaces it's going to cover 2 male XLRs and 2 female XLRs on the back of the 500 series powered rack, the extra set can be now used for a side chain I/O.

Yes, thanks to the suggestion from Rob King and others here at Gearslutz, we will add another switch to the front panel and an additional edge connector to the rear to facilitate a sidechain insert point. It will be unbal send (no problems with other gear) and balanced return.

As we are not in production yet, these changes can be made easily at this point in time. This is why there is no info on our website yet, it's going to look a bit different.

The 500 Series racks have a linkable buss that enables compressor modules to be linked. This is set up with jumpers on the rack mothercard.

For those of you who are anxiously waiting for the Essences, they are now with the shipping carrier and should be here within 7 days. We're hoping they will arrive right before Thanksgiving. We'll post another update when the arrive. Thanks everyone for your continued support and patience.
