NS10M Tweeter/Woofer/Crossover Question

Hi all, I'm not sure if the left monitor has been deteriorating over time, but I've noticed that my left NS-10m monitor seems to sound "duller" then the right channel - the highs are somewhat attenuated, and anything panned center actually sounds slightly to the right. After swapping in different power amp, I'm still getting the weaker, slightly duller sound out of one channel (I've also been checking by panning tracks, switching channel connections, going back b/t headphones and monitors, etc.).

If there a definitive way to check the monitor to see what exactly is causing the imbalance? Btw, these are the vertical NS-10m version, and the woofers/tweeters are all original.

Thanks!

Have you ruled out your cables? Try swapping them, see if the problem moves to the other side.

Definitely try the first suggestion. When was the last time you replaced the drivers?

put music very low, and carefully put your ear (not ears) to see if the tweeter's still working or not.

could be a simple tweeter replacement repair.

hi guys, thanks for the suggestions.

1 - i swapped cables, and the left monitor still seems attenuated in the highs, but also seems to have a little better bass response.

2 - it's been at least four years since anything has been replaced. i'll have to ask my friend who owned them prevoiusly when he replaced the drivers.

3 - i tried listening at very low volumes, and both tweeters are working (wierdly the monitor with the attenuated highs seems to actually have higher output at a very very low level - maybe that has something to do with the power amp?).

it could be my ears as well...too many years playing guitar on stage with the drummer's cymbals beating my left ear to death. i asked a couple musicians who were over last night, and they couldn't hear much of a difference between the monitors. we spent time panning solo'd instruments hard left and right - trumpet, violin, flugel etc.
