Just Pick Up A Focusrite ISA-ONE and a few mics

Been doing sound testing with the Focusrite ISA-ONE,API 312 and the pres on Tascam DM4800. The mics i been using is AT2020,AT4040,CAD e300 and Stellar CM-6.

I had a R&B singer/rapper with the best deep radio voice i have ever heard in my life in the studio last. He just sound like a million buck with the AT2020 and 4800 pres. I will have him back in the studio monday or tuesday night and we will try all the mic/pre/comp combination and i will post back my thoughts. He talked in a commercial advertisement radio voice with the AT2020 while holding it in his hand and straight into the 4800 picking around -10dbfs into cubase. He just sounds great and i can't wait til tracking day.

Now i test the AT2020,AT4040,CAD e300 and Stellar CM-6 into Focusrite ISA-ONE,API 312 and the pres on Tascam DM4800 with my voice just doing mic checks and low and loud talking for levels and all the mics sound good but my first choice will be e300+ISA ONE+La2a comp. This comdo sound very natural and point on to my voice. The Stellar cm-6 has a nice bottom tone to it and sound big but the AT2020 sound nice and warm with the 4800 pres.

The AT4040 is under the e300 in clarity which i will use it a lot on background vocal. The e300 +ISA ONE+La2a is a winning comdo for me. I can get some huge vocal tracks with this setup. Just finish remodeling my studio design and acoustic and building a vocal booth and setting area/TV room about a few months ago and i cant wait to get back to business cause its been since last thanksgiving when i started the remodeling and i had to do it all myself. I will post back in a week on my first recording session in the new studio.

All this is what i hear with my equipment in my studio so YMMV.

Oh well i have a female trained vocalist ("Just Might " Sugarland type song) i will be working with in a week or so and i have other session setup so i will put the new stuff thru a good work out. I will report back.
