Sonically-accurate monitor speakers for $2,000 or less

I play guitar and sing. I also multi-track orchestras, organs, vocals, etc. I use a digi 002r. I am looking to upgrade to semi-professional monitors for $2,000 or less. I want them to be part of a long-term pro studio investment, something that will last for 10-15 years and be good enough that I don't have to upgrade them when I get really serious. I value sonic accuracy (natural sounds), nothing hyped up. I want a single acoustic guitar to shine through it.

Listen to some ProAc 100s with a good amp. See if they work for you.

What kinda amp would you pair with these babies?

Should I open the endless discussion as to which amp colors which speaker in which way?

My max budget when shopping was $1500/pr...but, the original Mackie 624s have been amazing for me for years. They were the ONLY monitors in that range that passed every single test I threw at it...I was quite methodical. I had a stack of tracks with specific qualities they needed to expose. There were a handful that passed "most" of the tests, but only the 624s passed them ALL. they've redesigned the, since, so...ymmv with the new ones.

It's the only time I've EVER come in UNDER budget when buying gear!

How's your room? You can drop $20K on monitors and they won't be accurate if you don't have your room in check.

I record in a basement next to a storm drain and the plumbing. I have to terminate every good recording capture every time somebody takes a shit. I'm not joking.

Is the sound of it accurate though? If not, treat the room first. You need to feel like that dump is happening right next to you.
