A peek inside the "Recording the Beatles" book Many people have asked, so here is a new page showing some of what the contents of the book are. In addition, we have some new quotes and reviews on the site. Thanks to all who ordered so far, too.... http://recordingthebeatles.com/preview.htm http://recordingthebeatles.com/preview.htm

While we hope to keep things hidden IN the book until you can hold and read it, we knew it too a lot of faith (or interest!) to preorder something. So - if you can imagine 536 more pages like these, you'l get an idea what the book is. There's a LOT of info in there! Besides those few preview pages, if you'll read the comments from the few who have seen it, we feel confident it will please anyone who has interest in the subject. We are so pleased to have them support this, it mean a lot.

first, hi all...been lurking here for a while and finally registered. i love the forum and look forward to learning a lot and contributing when and what i can. well brian, the best way to sum up my feelings about those sample pages may be to report that, as i write this, the white album is booming out my monitors. the second best way may be to tell you that i'll probably be making this post shorter than i'd like because i am just itching to do some recording after reading about the beatles in the studio as written by someone who clearly has a real knowledge of production and music rather than by a writer who is faking it. (especially as i recently got a little four-track cassette portastudio on a whim to mess arund with and to complement my DAW.) the book looks phenomenal. i've read a LOT about the beatles, with an eye specifically peeled for studio stuff (as it is whenever i read about any recording artist) and yet this stuff seems new and fresh. this in itself is a considerable achievement. love the info about the desk--i had no idea that plug-ins dated to the 60s! as a writer and as a former book editor, i can see at a glance how much careful work has gone into this project, and i have to say, it's fairly intimidating. i can't wait to see the finished product, and good job. not to mention good luck!

Besides co-writing this, Kevin did all the layout and graphics for the book too! I think his visuals are as good as any book I've seen. A nice mixture of photos, graphs, diagrams. Yes, we have both spent countless hours in studios, so it's probable that we are very much like all those who are in line to read it. Obviously, simple interest has turned into a large occupation, though. We can't wait 'til you all can read it - be sure to leave some time free if you can; I know how it was for me when certain books came out (Lewisohn's Recording Sessions, Mark Vail's vintage synth and Hammond books, Analog Man's pedal book, etc.) I was up losing sleep reading, then going in to work groggy but happy!
