Need opinions: Hammond chop color

Hi all,

I'm having a Hammond A100 custom chopped and I have to pick a finish. My choices are basically painted black or tolex. What do you think would be more aesthetically pleasing? I could spring for a grain-wood finish but that would run a lot more money... and I think a chop would just look more chop-like with a black finish.

Thoughts?

black

I have mint, black '62 M3 with all accesories including the original invoice.
I think it has survived in it's condition because it is black.

I dunno - having defaced the original design, why not paint it glossy fluorescent pink or something? Why go boring now? Or custom vinyl graphics ... flames or something ...

nice

if you have it all stripped and sanded anyway, how much more difficult would it be to stain it, than to paint it?

I mean, assuming you aren't going to take my advice about upholstering it "Kustom" style!

i think... but am not sure... that if I was going to go the staining route... he'd have had to use a higher quality, more expensive wood...

I think the black is actually going to be pretty cool.

The cutdown of the A100 cabinet didn't work out... too narrow and my guy believed it not stable enough, so we're going custom cabinet route... which is what you see above.
