It seems like an obvious product with so many folks building pres and some eqs / compressors, why not add the works? I imagine many assloads of people would be into this.

I've thought of this too, build a frame and power supply network and routing capabilities and...useful?

API has done this before in the 1604 and 2488.

But guess what? If you can hold off till Sept AES API will reintroduce one of these once more with some added bells and whistles.

Maybe tonelux could figure out some way to make a modular adaptor for it?

Configurable modular consoles

I believe Peter Reardon from Shadow Hills may be working on something of this very sort.

It has everything I could personally want and more.

More random details from my notes:
The first 16 channels will 5 aux sends, 1 stereo aux send, and 1 master send
The last 8, no aux sends
Monitoring section will ahve 6 stereo ins, 3 monitor outs, mute, Dim, TB, etc...

You get the idea. It will fit the Control 24 desk.
It would be great to have those kind of options. Granted, the usual slut couldn't fill it all up at once. But being modular and having the option to add on as you care to and can afford to would be great.

Perhaps in 15 years one could have a nice 32 channel console of various high end modules for each channel ala preamp > compressor > EQ > limiter...etc., etc..

with all the 500 series pres now becoming available...and high end 500 series EQ's and comps just around the corner...I would think this would be totally do-able.

I've been pondering this topic as well. Since the 500 series modules have only a 15 pin single-sided edge connector, the number of buses available for a routing module would be SERIOUSLY limited.

I drew this up in pagemaker over a year ago. Should be doable with a crazy huge power supply.

Say I've been pricing these 500 series preamps out and these are the conclusions I've come to:

OSA MP1-A: $545

OSA MP1-C: $545

Brent Averill 312A: $600

OSA MP1-L: $625

OSA MP1-L3: $650

Purple Audio Bizz: $675

API 512: $675

Buzz Audio Elixir: $695

Shadow Hills Industries MONO GAMA: $795

A Designs Audio P1: $796

A Designs Audio EM Blue: $850 list

A Designs Audio EM Gold: $850 list

A Designs Audio EM Blue: $850 list

A Designs Audio EM Red: $850 list

I know there is the Hardy's coming out soon as well.

Did I miss any others...or any better prices elsewhere?

Know of any place that list the ACTUAL COST of the various EM series of A Designs 500 preamps...Silver, Blue, Red, & Gold?

Best, trans
