| Pure, honest, detailed low, gentle high and lots and lots of energy. I do send voice recordings out to clients without touching an EQ While recording, it's as if there's no double glass between me and the artist. No 'vintage' nosey Bleu-Cactus or Violet Amethyst sound. We've tested and compared it with several mic's and the final choice was between the Flamingo and the Brauwner VMX, Flamingo won, we made the choice on the fact that the Flamingo had more power and energy in the sound and was less analytical without adding point-able character. By power and energy I mean that the pre-amp had the same setting, the metering told us the signal levels of both mic's were the same, but the Flamingo sounded 'louder' without sounding compressed or punchy. The Brauner has a safe sound, the same safeness as a Neuman U87 or SSL sound, it's good, it's what you expect, can't go wrong with it, but it's nothing special to me. The Flamingo is special, very special. |

| The Flamingo Jr. is a good, honest, unhyped sound, warm but not bassy, and sweet, clear highs that are not edgy. It's got transformers, which helps with a vintage tone that is neither muddy nor spiky. It is not larger-than-life, but has a certain Neve-ish compressed quality that can be quite helpful. The Flamingo Jr. is a serious mic as good as any in its price category and better than many I've heard. 3rd&4thT

| I totally agree with the last two posts. The first thing I try when recording vocals.
