Edwin McCain's "Wish in This World" Vocal delay

was wondering if anybody knows how to get that vocal delay on Edwin McCain's track "Wish in This World" (off'f Messenger album).

particularly in the beginning part. sounds like a bit reverby, but the tail is really distinct.

my half-ass guess is a Lexicon outboard, but i've been wrong about this before.

anybody know how this is achieved? or better yet, know the exact chain used?

If my memory serves me correctly, Bob Clearmountain mixed (some songs on) that album. I’m sure fellow Gearslutz have heard of him and maybe even point you to some articles that can help you.

Hope this helps.
Martijn.
