How should I calibrate my Saffire Pro 40 inputs?

Hello again. I have a situation and I am not sure what the best way for it to be handled.

I am using a Saffire Pro 40 with Cubase 6 and I am using 3 outborad compressors for mixing. I am using the "External Fx" patching via Cubase connection panel. What would be the best way to calibrate the inputs? Would I do something similar to calibrating mixer inputs by using pink noise,or is there an alternate method?

Thanks

White noise is best for calibrating. For Pro 40 it is ideal to find gain spot between 3 and 4 as there the preamps sounds most neutral. Of course use only TRS connection

Thank You VERY MUCH for your help!!!!!

So,to be sure I understand correctly.....this is what I plan to do....

I am going to use a -12db white noise signal coming out of my Saffire output #9. Then I am going to route a cable from #9 output to #3 input on my Saffire. So are you suggesting that I set my input meters to read -3 to -4 or do you mean something else?

Once again THANK YOU VERY MUCH for participating!

Connection is right as you describe it, but with 3 - 4 I mean position of gain knob on preamp
