Yes he's a beast, but he's a jazz, fusion and new orleans drummer, and wouldn't touch a double pedal if I had to guess.
He might not need a second pedal. Versatile enough stylistically to be gigging with Steely Dan, Sting, John Mayer, James Taylor. I don't suspect he'd have any trouble with thrashing out rock beats.

Fred is all about attention to detail, and if you are clear on where you're trying to get acoustically, he and his fully loaded SSL 9080 K console will get you there. There are certainly studios in Nashville that are more funky/sketchy/whatever, but if you want a good-sized live room that is seriously quiet, a control room with huge bass response (he has subs under each of his Dynaudio M4 mains) and one of the cleanest, biggest, and last SSL 9000 K consoles ever made, Paragon's got it. The studio is also very cartage-friendly. Definitely worth a trip to the far side of town to see it.
I Agree. I did an internship out there a while back. Take a tour...

And his dad Dave is one of the best bass players in town. I've done a lot
of sessions with Dave but had him in the studio with Jerry a year or so ago and it was a treat to see them work together.

I'd highly recommend Jerry.

Sounds like for what you want, Miles McPherson would be a great choice. Someone mentioned him already. He's killer. If you need his contact info, PM me.

Nir Z. I'm sad that he moved from NYC, as he was a first call for hard hitting Rock drums at my place. Monster with fabulous time and very inventive ideas, just a super musical player. Played with Genesis when he was 18 I believe, recorded a Chris Cornell record for a couple of things. He's a bad man. And I've recorded Keith a number of times. Also, one of my favorite cats and another one of the best drummers I've recorded/played with. Funny, those two dudes were A list top calls here and they've both moved to Nashvegas! Miss having those guys around to call. (Though Keith does spend a good deal of time in NYC).

Best,
j
