Long thing on the back of mixers with meters

Can I buy an aftermarket meter thing to put behind my soundcraft spirit 24 ch. mixer like the ones used on the mighty B's supposed flagship?

Cheers mate, not quite up with the lingo just yet
Can I hook one up to a mixer that wasn't designed to have a meter bridge?

I'm not sure. I've never installed an aftermarket one personally. I do know Soundcraft makes one for their ghost console:

So maybe you could get them to make one for your board? It might cost more than it's worth...

Here's a mackie one

Can't find one anywhere? Do they make some sort of 24 channel meter bridge with 24 ins and 24 outs?

Which model is it?

You could go here...

http://www.soundcraft.com/

...and ask. They have a discussion group (look down the page to the right side).

Usually there is a special connector on the back of a console if a meter bridge is supported.

Yeah I checked there already, no dice. I've sent an email to their spare parts place.

What I was more interested in was an aftermarket 24 channel meter bridge with 24 ins and outs (maybe a stereo main as well) that would become part of the signal chain i.e. run out direct outs/inserts, in the meter bridge and out into my sound card.

Has anybody heard of such a thing? At the moment its looking like I'm going to have to go software and I REALLY don't want to.

I don't use a meter bridge, and I haven't had any special desire for one. My recorder has meters, I have meters on the busses - I wouldn't refuse a meter bridge if it was given to me, but I wouldn't consider it a necessity.

Mabye you should find a tech to build you a proper meter bridge.....

What do you want this for anyway? Are you mixing on your board?
