Does anyone have experience with this mixer? It's pre's and EQs? I'm thinking about getting this for my home studio so I don't have to worry about buying external pres and converters right away.

There is a humungous long running thread on this already on here and the Post-bot SHOULD have already pointed you to it.

It dates back from before the R16 was released and is a mine of useful information, heavily seasoned with the usual pile of GS bullshit misleading nonsense etc., but an interesting and informative read on the whole.

Now clear off and spend a day or so reading it, but dont say I didnt warn you!

I've had mine for a year now and it's awesome.
The pre's are very clean and the eq is excellent, more of a well behaved eq rather than a character mojo sort of thing.
I use it firewired to my mac and the routing options are very useful, i can bypass it's faders and use it as a summing box on mixdown.
The only things that could be better for me would be 4 pre fade aux's (A&H can mod it for this but it's £200) and a pad for the stereo mix return - mastered material clips it unless you turn down the gain in the software thats playing it.
Overall it's quality goes way beyond its price tag.

I love mine a shit ton. It has everything that I need in one box. The pre's are great, the EQ is superb and the routing options are pretty amazing. I got mine for about $1300 from amazon new. For that price, there is no way I couldn't have found a better deal. I still do some ITB mixes when the musicians need a little bit of surgery, but when the takes are great, mixing on this board becomes a true joy. My only issue with this board is the fact there are no direct out's for each channel so if I wanted to use this board with say an 8 track tape machine, I could.
